What are the benefits of hiring a health coach?

Today's healthcare systems can be more accurately described as "sick care" systems - we normally don't go to see a doctor or healthcare practitioner until something goes wrong. A health coach can help to educate and advise on the lifestyle choices that can help prevent ever becoming sick in the first place. However, it's difficult to know what choices to make - especially with all the information out there about diet, nutrition, and exercise. It can be overwhelming. If you want to live a better life, but don't know exactly where to start, you may want to hire a health coach, who can help fill in the gaps between what your doctor can provide and what you need. Every person has specific, unique health goals, and a health coach can help you decide on the steps needed to achieve a higher quality of life.

Are there options for workplaces? My employees have been asking me about wellness programs.

Excellent! Workplace wellness programs go a long towards increasing employee morale and camaraderie - plus, healthier employees means less sick time! Virvitus Health Coaching can initiate a program for your staff that brings their individual goals into a group setting. They become accountable to and support each other in their efforts to improve their health. Group lunches, workouts, meetings and even field trips go into our Corporate Wellness packages. Apps such as Trainerize will bring everyone together in a virtual environment, tracking progress and providing a means to encourage each other.

Are you a certified nutritionist/dietician?

A health coach is not a nutrionist or dietician; rather an expert in the process of healthy behavior changes. Our coaches are graduates of the Primal Health Coach Institute (https://www.primalhealthcoach.com). Based on Integrative Health Coaching models, it is founded on ancestral health principles and supported by decades of research. We follow evolutionary-based lifestyle principles, explore deeply into nutritional science, whole-body strength and conditioning, and filter out the fads, trends and misconceptions that keep us from being better.

How long do I need to work with you to see results?

The short answer is: it depends on you. But typically, in order to establish long-lasting lifestyle changes, a minimum of three months is recommended. This is based on behavior change principles - as we will be making small, incremental steps to being better, it takes time, effort and support from your health coach to make these changes sustainable. That said, there are some shorter, more self-guided programs that we can discuss if you're not ready for that type of commitment.

Should I talk to my doctor first before doing this?

Definitely. Always consult your primary care provider before making any lifestyle changes. However, as we will not be using any drugs, exotic supplementation, or extreme exercise, there should be no reason why they'd say no!
